I would think we’re likely to see a cycle that starts with fixes and adds features in a later update (a la XP SP2). Updated: Microsoft is in fact promising an SP1 update, though there’s no date and not a whole lot of detail about what’s in it just yet. It’ll be interesting to see if an SP1 update (still not formally announced by Microsoft) might turn sentiments around. I’d say we’re not just getting a lag, but a general lack of interest.

That to me is disappointing, regardless of how you feel about Vista itself, in that we were promised this upgrade would be significant to the music community. That’s not to say some people aren’t happily chugging away on Vista, but there certainly isn’t a sense among many third parties that this is an essential upgrade for music.

It’s also worth noting that a full six months after the Vista launch, many music vendors still stop short of recommending Vista. Now that Cubase 9 has landed and finally blacklisted all my IK Multimedia instruments (including SampleMook, SampleTron, Sonik Synth, Philharmonik), I think it is about time for IK Multimedia of seriously considering porting their instruments to 64 bits.

Software compatibility generally hasn’t been as much of an issue as driver compatibility on Vista we’ve been watching as M-Audio drivers, for one, have slowly crept in. 64bit versions of SampleTron, SampleMoog, Sonik Synth. The latest versions work if you have an older version, your mileage may vary: IK Multimedia says its whole product line is now ready for Vista, fully tested across the software line. I downloaded several additional libraries that came with the new version totaling well over a 1 GB compressed as a. This is a great deal, check out the link. Back to the point, Sonik Synth’s normal street price is $199.99. What I could do with the 11 years of band geekdom my public education passed me with a tool like that, well I can dream for hours. Thank you (my High School Band director) Danny Wagner! If you’re a savvy Engineer they sky’s the limit with VSL. You can import legacy libraries like Sonik Synth 2 into SampleTank Custom Shop which is free and 64-bit. It’s an incredible tool, especially if you can read and write music scores. However they are what creates all that magnificent music you hear in the new (since 2005) Doctor Who and Harry Potter movies. My current creative obsession is owning the sounds of the Vienna Symphonic Library, only Danny Elfman has $10,000 to spend on virtual instruments. IK Multimedias Total Studio 2 Max has it all, and for just 249 its the perfect time to add. I have needed to update this software for a long time but wasn’t willing to dish $200 for it. They’ve added so much sound content since my last Version that especially focuses on Strings I’m giddy with joy.

Very Nice! I haven’t updated this Virtual Synthesizer in so long I had to purchase the new version even thought I use it all the time, especially for integrated Web Flash soundscapes. IK Multimedia is offering Sonik Synth for $29.99 US/€24.99 normally $199.99 US for father’s day. i use sonik 2 all the time, so its not a basic conflict between that & FL. I continued to FL Studio 11 to run the virtual instrument but it was unsuccessful. WOWZA! IK Multimedia has a new holiday-inspired discount program called Krazy Deal. I bought the IK Multimedia Sonik Synth2 today from Sweetwater, and I have no been able to figure out whats going on.
